Abstract:

This talk will be given at the Annual Auditory & Vestibular Translational Research Day sponsored by the University of Maryland on November 18th. It is targeted at a diverse audience and is designed to be a broad perspective of frequency-lowering hearing aid technology. In this talk, I will critically examine the current state of frequency lowering in the clinic and research. I will then identify important intellectual barriers that are limiting progress in this area and how my unique research approach removes these barriers. Finally, I will conclude with how discoveries made with my approach suggest an important paradigm shift that may influence future research and advancements in frequency-lowering technology and influence how this technology is used in the clinic.
