IE welcomes new assistant professor
Pitts worked most recently as a post-doctoral researcher in the Center for Healthcare Engineering and Patient Safety (CHEPS) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
“I decided to come to Purdue because the School is leading in research and innovation in Industrial Engineering, and also more broadly in nearly all engineering disciplines,” said Pitts. “I wanted to be a part of a scientific community that is at the forefront of discovering new theories, ideas, and developments. Also, the school of IE is home to some of the top human factors researchers, and learning from them can help me to make a greater societal impact.”
Pitts continued: “I am most looking forward to establishing my own research group and working with students. In particular, my goal is to continue to study age-related perceptual and cognitive limitations and find ways, using technology, to make life easier for those in later stages of their lives.”
