Prof. Janelle Wharry receives TMS 2018 Young Leaders Professional Development Award
NE Assistant Professor, Janelle Wharry recently received the Young Leaders Professional Development Award from The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). This award provides an opportunity for young, professional members of TMS to advance in the field of materials science through participation in activities.
“I am so appreciative of this award because attending TMS meetings is always my highest priority, and I encourage all of my students to attend and be involved in TMS as well,” said Wharry. “It is such an honor to receive this award!”
Wharry’s research specializes in how irradiation affects mechanical performance of materials pertaining to nuclear reactor structural materials. Attending TMS meetings have provided her with the ability to learn about new research advances and have helped build stronger relationships with colleagues and potential collaborators.
