Professor Taleyarkhan, co-authors receive Best Paper Award at ANS Winter Conference

A paper co-authored by a research team led by School of Nuclear Engineering Professor Rusi Taleyarkhan has received Best Paper Award at the recent American Nuclear Society Winter Annual Conference.

The paper, “Detection of Special Nuclear Material in Cargo using Continuous Neutron Interrogation and Tension Metastable Fluid Detectors,” was written by corresponding author Professor Taleyarkhan (pictured right), and co-authors Brian Archambault, PhD from the School of Nuclear Engineering and Manager of Technology for Sagamore Adams Laboratories, LLC (pictured below left), and doctoral student Alex Hagen (pictured below right).

Hagen presented the paper during the Human Factors, Instrumentation and Controls: Instrumentation technical session at the conference, held November 6-10, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hagen was further recognized by the American Nuclear Society Young Members’ Group with the Best Paper Award.
