Nuclear Engineering presents inaugural Outstanding Nuclear Engineer awards

Purdue University School of Nuclear Engineering presented the inaugural Outstanding Nuclear Engineer (ONE) Award to three graduates on Friday, March 24, 2017.

The award, which recognizes the significant contributions of graduates of Nuclear Engineering to industry, academia, government service, or other disciplines, was presented during a ceremony at the Dauch Alumni Center on Purdue’s campus.

“The Outstanding Nuclear Engineer Award recognizes the exceptional accomplishments of our alumni who utilized their excellent Purdue education and went on to have extraordinary impact in their professional lives,” noted Dr. Klod Kokini, Interim Head of the School of Nuclear Engineering and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. “This inaugural award marks an important milestone in the history of our School.”

Recipients of the 2017 School of Nuclear Engineering ONE Award are:

Dr. Terry L. Grimm received his bachelor’s degree from the School in 1987. He is the President and Senior Scientist of Niowave, Inc.

Dr. Robert N. Hill received his bachelor’s degree from the School in 1984, master’s degrees in 1986, and PhD in 1988. He is the Senior Nuclear Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory.

CAPT (USN Ret.) James F. McCarthy, Jr. received his bachelor’s degree from the School in 1979, and is Assistant Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, Integration of Capabilities and Resources, Office of the Chief of Naval Operation

For more than 50 years, the School of Nuclear Engineering has educated many individuals to become leaders in their professions and in society. Faculty members challenge and empower students with educational and research experiences that enable them to become leaders in the growing field of nuclear engineering and amplify their impact on the world.
