Deborah L. Grubbe

For her outstanding leadership and technical accomplishments within one of the world s top chemical companies and her leadership in promoting excellence and diversity, the Schools of Engineering are proud to present the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award to Deborah L. Grubbe.

Ms. Grubbe is the corporate director of Safety and Health at DuPont, where she is accountable for DuPont s global safety and health leadership. She graduated from Purdue in 1977 with a bachelor s degree in chemical engineering.

At all stages of her 25-year DuPont career, Ms. Grubbe has implemented change in some of DuPont s most strategic business units and has built an impressive record of leadership that improves profitability, innovation, and safety. She has been an invaluable mentor to young women pursuing an engineering career.

Ms. Grubbe was named the Delaware Engineer of the Year for 2002, received the Purdue Engineering Alumni Association Service Award in 2001, and was named a Purdue Outstanding Chemical Engineer in 1994. She was the first woman and the youngest elected member on the State of Delaware Registration Board for Professional Engineers from 1985 to 1989. Ms. Grubbe is also a member of the Purdue s Chemical Engineering Industrial Advisory Executive Committee.
