Davis awarded NSF Grant

Event Date: February 8, 2021
Dr. Kirsten Davis, Assistant Professor of Engineering Education, has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to reimagine international research for students in a virtual world.

Dr. Kirsten Davis receives NSF grant

Davis will be joined by colleagues at Virginia Tech, Drs. David Knight and Nicole Sanderlin.

About the Research

Providing international research experiences for students is important to develop researchers who are both interculturally competent and able to navigate global research networks within their field. However, in the face of COVID-19 and future disruptions to international travel, we need to be able to provide such experiences in a virtual environment. This project will explore the design of these virtual international research programs to identify potential formats, the challenges in implementing them, and the resources needed to overcome these challenges. http://bit.ly/davisnsfaward (NSF)

Fun fact - Since just joining our faculty at the beginning of this academic year, this is Kirsten's first NSF grant as a Boilermaker!
