Spurred by President Obama's "100,000 Strong" initiative, an ENE professor researches how best to engage American students in research activities of their own, in China.

This book, edited by ENE professor Alice Pawley (right) with Caroline Baillie and Donna Riley, is the first dedicated specifically to university professionals concerned with engineering and social justice. Its team of multidisciplinary authors includes ENE faculty, graduate students, and staff; a subset of the book's authors came together around the topic of engineering and social justice in a workshop held at Purdue in 2009. The Wickenden Award will be presented at the 2012 ASEE Conference to Ohland, an ENE professor; Long, director of project assessment for ENE's MIDFIELD project; and co-authors for the Journal of Engineering Education article "Race, Gender, and Measures of Success in Engineering Programs" (April 2011).

A doctoral student in ENE, Chua also teaches and coaches faculty members across the country in ways to provide their students with real-world, hands-on learning experiences.

The PECASE Award is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers beginning their independent careers.

Yuxiang Wang, PhD, ENE's International Student Experience Advisor and an academic advisor, is the co-editor of the new book "Minority Students in East Asia: Government Policies, School Practices, and Teacher Responses" (Routledge, 2011).

Cox is one of four experts participating in a September 26 panel and announcement at the White House on "Workplace Flexibility Policies for American Scientists and Their Families."

The symposium "Team-Based Learning and Peer Evaluation in Management Education: Issues, Challenges, and Solutions," based on software tools designed by Ohland's research team, was named the Best Symposium in Management Education and Development presented at the Academy's 2011 annual meeting.
