The Leadership Minor will be an elective program coupling leadership theory with practice, leading to a certificate that is recorded on a student's transcript. Guided by a faculty mentor, students will create a personal leadership development plan, take courses on leadership concepts, peer mentor younger students, and create a portfolio of their leadership experiences.

ENE's Prof. Karl Smith participated in the consensus study, Discipline-Based Education Research: Understanding and Improving Learning in Undergraduate Science and Engineering"—one of two experts invited to represent engineering in an initiative that also encompasses physics, biology, the geosciences, chemistry, and astronomy.

Leslie Bottorff and Rick Kosdrosky, two graduates of Interdisciplinary Engineering (now part of ENE), will receive the school's Outstanding Alumni Award on February 22.

The Wickenden Award will be presented at the 2012 ASEE Conference to Ohland, an ENE professor; Long, director of project assessment for ENE's MIDFIELD project; and co-authors for the Journal of Engineering Education article "Race, Gender, and Measures of Success in Engineering Programs" (April 2011).
