Why I chose Purdue Civil and Construction Engineering

I knew I wanted to go toa school out of state, and I wanted it to be school known for having a strong civil engineering program. When I started to look at my options, I quickly became interested in Purdue University. Its great civil engineering school along with how welcoming the campus felt made coming to West Lafayette an easy decision.

Emphasis area

My emphasis area is in structural engineering. I wanted to pursue a civil engineering career where I know I’ll have a positive impact of people in my community. Not only are you responsible to the shape and structure of the community, but the people are also entrusting their safety to you with what you create.

Minhea was an active member of the Purdue Civil Engineering honor society Chi Epsilon and Purdue Women in Engineering.

Purduette member

While at Purdue, I was a member of the Purduettes. They are part of Purdue Musical Organizations, and it was an incredible experience for me as it allowed me to perform on stage with wonderful people and allowed me to explore my passion for music and singing.

After I graduate

After I earn my bachelor’s degree this winter, I will be staying for one more year to earn my master’s through Purdue Civil Engineering’s 4+1 Program. I am excited to gain more experience and a deeper understanding of civil engineering before I pursue my career.

Minhea says her goal is to be part of a structural engineering team that will shape and improve communities for the better.
