Why I chose Purdue Civil and Construction Engineering

Growing up in New York City, construction and large-scale building projects have always been a big part of my life. It was always so interesting for me to see these projects take shape and come to life. I knew Purdue University had a great engineering program that lets you explore different disciplines your first year, so that really appealed to me, too. In that first year, I soon started to gravitate toward the Construction Engineering Program. I really liked how they prepared you for your career and internship opportunities while you earned your degree.

Emphasis area

I am in the Construction Engineering Program. I am really interested in both shaping and improving communities through various construction projects.

Matthew is the vice president of the Special Olympics program at Purdue.

Special Olympics VP

I’m currently the vice president of the Special Olympics program here at Purdue. I decided to get involved because it seemed like an impactful program to be a part of. It has been an incredible experience for me and it’s easily one of the best experiences I have had at Purdue.

After I graduate

After I earn my bachelor’s degree this in May 2027, I will be entering the construction industry. I have accepted a position with Skanska and am looking forward to starting my career with such a world-renown construction company.
