CCE Undergrad Spotlight — Jason Li
Hometown: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Current year: Senior

Jason chose civil engineering because of how broad of broad of a program and how to affects so many different facets of everyday life.
Why I chose Purdue Civil and Construction Engineering
I’ve always had an interest in engineering, so I knew I wanted to go somewhere that has a strong program. I also came from a small school, so I knew wherever I decided to go, I wanted it to be at a big campus with a strong community. Once I visited Purdue and learned about the civil engineering program and just how broad it was, I knew this was the place for me.
Emphasis area
I am a general civil engineering student. I really appreciate how broad civil engineering is, so I wanted to earn a general civil engineering degree so I could experience as many aspects of the field as possible.

Jason is the vice president for Purdue ASCE and is on the organization's concrete canoe team.
ASCE VP
My biggest student organization involvement is with the Purdue chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers. I am the internal vice president of the organization and co-lead the construction processes for the concrete canoe team. Being part of this team and working together and competing again other schools has been one of my most memorable times here at Purdue.
After I graduate
After I earn my bachelor’s degree in this spring, I will be joining Mortenson Construction. I’m really excited to begin my career and learn from industry veterans.

Jason chose Purdue because of its academic strength and it's strong sense of community.
