Is Sports Engineering Right For You?

The program targets students who intend to learn skills that are in high demand in practical sports engineering, such as sports entrepreneurship, biomechanics, data analytics and management. Being housed in the Interdisciplinary Engineering Department, students will have the opportunity to pursue the broader engineering track that interests them to supplement the courses that fulfill this concentration. This program is not intended to lead to PhD research. The target audience consists of but not limited to:

  • Former collegiate, Olympic, and professional athletes looking to enhance their career and gain engineering and managerial skills
  • Current undergraduates and recent graduates wishing to undertake graduate studies, but still wanting to enter industry quickly
  • Domestic and international students who want an engineering degree that is more industry-oriented
  • Practicing professionals who wish to attain additional technical or specialized expertise in order to improve their career pathways

  • Bachelor’s degree (with or without professional experience)
  • Passion for and understanding of sports
  • Desire to impact the next generation of sports
  • Analytical mindset and creative/innovative thinker
  • Works well in team and individual environments
  • Ability to apply learning to real-life experiences/problems
  • Self-motivated
  • STEM background recommended but not required
