Abby

Abby Perez is a Junior at Purdue University pursuing a degree in User Experience Design with a minor in Psychology and a Certificate for Entrepreneurship and Leadership. She works as a User Experience Design Intern for Hewlett Packard Enterprise, founder of the Purdue User Experience Design organization, and an Executive Officer for the Dean’s Student Leaders. Alaina

Kaela

Kaela Disney is currently a college student at Purdue University, double majoring in Computer Graphics Technology and web development. She developed a passion for technology early on. She has enriched her knowledge about technology further, either through school programs or different types of literature. She continually works to improve her technical, leadership, and communication skills. Her interests vary between web development and user experience, and she hopes to one day have a successful career that incorporates both of her two focuses of study. Measuring Communities for Military Families

The current website is not user friendly and does not provide the maximum impact for their audience. The expected outcome for this project will be recommendations to improve the user experience and a visualization of an ideal solution.

Yuqing

Yuqing Wu is a Junior at Purdue University pursuing a degree in User Experience Design with minors in Psychology and Art & Design. Last summer she worked as a UX researcher and designer for Meitu, helping to design an inner picture system, and doing user research for a social media. Last semester, her team worked with Microsoft, designing a mobile application to help college students achieve goals. Deanna Bell is a freshman earning her degree in User Experience Design at Purdue University along with minors in Psychology and Communications. Kyle Milne is a determined and ambitious individual. He is a sophomore studying UX Design at Purdue and hopes to have the tools necessary to work for a large tech company. Kyle grew up in the outskirts of Philadelphia. Being a native from Philly, he has an appreciation for technology and design, cheesesteaks too. Having many hobbies and interests, makes Kyle diverse and sociable on many different topics. Jeff Sunwoo is a freshmen studying UX design at Purdue. He is eager and passionate about UX design. Jeff looks forward to learn and experience UX design in Purdue for the upcoming years. Microsoft

Microsoft Academic is an online search engine for scholarly publications. Our goal is to compare the redesign of Microsoft Academic to the current interface of Microsoft Academic in terms of usability, learnability, and user experience. We will use our research to provide Microsoft Research with comparative metrics, and recommendations for improving design in order to deliver on the stated goal.

Meena, Co-Lead

Meena Nanduri is studying User Experience Design at Purdue University. She was born and raised in Sunnyvale, California. Born to two Computer Scientists, Meena grew up inspired to work in the technological world. She is passionate about User Experience Design because it combines her interests in psychology, technology, design, and user research. In her free time, Meena enjoys reading and writing. One of Meena’s favorite books is Change by Design by Tim Brown because it proves how design can be used to impact all areas of life. Amelia Lim is a Junior in User Experience Design minoring in Psychology at Purdue University, West Lafayette. She is interested in the User Interface design field. Stephanie

Stefani Sandoval is a Junior at Purdue University working her way to completing BA/BS in UX. Amy Zhang is currently a Freshman pursuing a degree in User Experience Design with a minor in psychology at Purdue University. Greg

Gregory Sirko is a junior at Purdue University in his first year of User Experience Design. He is interested in all parts of UX, especially visual design and psychological research. He started his university studies in Computer Information Technology, but found it lacked a certain something that he craved. He has a background in graphic design and digital media. Madi Lindeman is a freshman at Purdue University, majoring in User Experience Design. She is also in charge of advertising for the User Experience Design club on campus. Graeme

Graeme Goss is a freshman studying User Experience Design at Purdue University. He is really interested in the research aspect of UX, but he is keeping an open mind about all aspects of UX. Graeme loves dogs and currently has two dogs at home that he loves to see every time he gets the chance. HPE

A project to redesign the process of a customer becoming aware of new updates within the 3PAR storage product, as well as gather other important information regarding the updating process itself. This is a result of their new implementation of a customer self-update process as opposed to a manual announcement via email.

Delaney, Co-Lead

Delaney Rundell is a sophomore at Purdue University pursuing a degree in User Experience Design with minors in Psychology and Communication. She is passionate about user research and strives to become a user researcher. She is especially strong at usability testing, user interviews, and developing high-level takeaways from findings. After interning as a product researcher, she has developed an interest in web and mobile accessibility and conducting accessibility testing. He has also freelanced with local businesses doing web design and graphic design work. AJ Vetter is a student at Purdue University studying UX Design. He has experience doing design and film in commercial, non for profit, and corporate settings. Anna

Anna Ding is a freshman at Purdue University studying UX Design. She has a high GPA of 3.96 and had taken multiple AP classes throughout high school, coming into college with 46 credits. Anna has also volunteered in AWANA for four years and participated in dance and band. She is known by her teachers and peers as polite, cheerful, and creative. Her current goals are to learn about her major and gain experience in UX Design. Lucca

Lucca McKay is passionate about beautiful and simplistic user experiences. A computer enthusiast, he is majoring in UX Design at Purdue University. While pursuing his degree he volunteers with Psi Upsilon improving their online advertising using Adobe Illustrator.

Lucca was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, surrounded by Silicon Valley influences. He was attracted to Purdue because of their engineering excellence and innovative UX program. Now a Sophomore, he is experienced in Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender, Maya, and Java. Lucca’s interest in elegant and simplistic communication was honed at an early age. Starting in his early teens, he competed in speech tournaments. He successfully made his way up from school, to regional, and eventually state finals several years in a row, in areas of original oratory, duo interpretation, and humorous interpretation. Via speech, not only was he able to share his interest in elegant communication, but also his love of the fantastical and humorous. Lucca would be an invaluable asset to any organization. Kassandra

Kassandra Melkey is a first-year student in the User Experience Design undergraduate program at Purdue University. She intends to specialize in either User Research or Information Architecture. She initially came to Purdue to study biochemistry. Where she discovered her passion for research but realized that she wanted to be on a career path that would allow her to work in a creative team environment daily, which lead her to the UX design program. In her free time she enjoys embracing her intrinsically curious personality through writing, traveling, and visiting museums of all different types. Austin

Austin Johnson is a freshman at Purdue University. He studies User Experience Design and is pursuing a minor in Psychology. Austin has worked as an intern for a computer science education company, Nextech, in Indianapolis, IN. For over a year Austin not only was able to learn programming skills, he was also given the chance to help teach that information to students who attended the program.
Through this internship Austin discovered User Experience Design. He immediately felt his passion for the industry. Through the connections made, Austin was able to work with a design company, Studio Science, and form relationships with lead UX Designers on the team he was working with. Austin not only got to experience the environment of a design company, he was also able to learn from these professionals. Garmin

The current mobile feature is cluttered and needs to provide a more intuitive user experience. Garmin is expecting research on the current feature and a redesign that will improve the ability for the user to seamlessly understand and use the product through discovery and/or onboarding.

Drake, Co-Lead

Drake is an honors sophomore at Purdue University, majoring in user experience design. He is an Adobe Certified Associate in Illustrator, which supports his experience with visual design related work. He believes his core purpose is to design experiences that are engaging, usable, enjoyable, and have the ability to influence daily life. He possesses expert communication skills, knowledge on how to solve complex problems, knowledge of the user- centered design process, and a basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. Upon completion of his degree, Drake aspires to be a UX, UI, or visual designer. Drake has completed an internship at Siemens Healthineers, user research for Hewlett-Packard Enterprises, and undergraduate research in Purdue’s Polytechnic Institute. Outside of the classroom, Drake is the President of Purdue’s User Experience Design Club and is involved with Purdue’s Minority Technology Association. Jai Tudor is a student of the Polytechnic Institute at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Within the Polytechnic Institute, Jai majors in Human Centered Design and Development, soon to be known as User Experience. She is currently interested in expanding her education into areas of art and design that focus less on technology and more on the aesthetic side of User Experience. Joseph Hoggatt is a student in Purdue Polytechnic’s Human Centered Design and Development program. He assisted in designing a scouting app for his high school’s FIRST robotics team. Sarah Field is a sophomore at Purdue University from San Diego, CA. Sarah enjoys designing websites and mobile applications with flawless information architecture and front end development. Some of her key strengths are being tenacious, communicative, eager to learn new things, and a great team worker/leader. Some of Sarah’s other hobbies and interests include psychology, community service, and programming. From experience participating and being involved with Girls Who Code, Sarah hopes to get more young girls and women interested in computer science and UX design. Maddisen

Even though Maddisen Sharpe is working towards a Bachelors in User Experience, at Purdue, her ultimate goal is to make an impact on user’s everyday life. This can be seen in her early high school career, when she got involved with the Hamilton Humane Society, Ronald McDonald House, and aided for teachers. Even with her busy high school schedule and volunteering, she found a way to start taking college classes her senior year. This provided valuable soft and hard skills, such as: communication, cooperation, empathy, presentation, Microsoft Suites, Mulitisim, Autodesk Revit and Inventor, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, CAD animation, and being an active listener. Jingle Chen was born and raised in Beijing, China, for 18 years, and is currently attending Purdue University in the US. He is currently a sophomore pursuing a degree in User Experience Design with minors in Psychology, Communication, and Mathematics. People find it difficult to decide what to do on a night out with friends, such as where to eat or what to order. The goal for the semester through research, testing, and prototyping, is to provide design recommendations to Crema.

Elizabeth Finley is a student in Purdue University’s undergraduate UX Design program. She aspires to create products that both meet user needs and appeal to users aesthetically. She has experience as a Web Intern for Travis County, TX and as a UX Design student collaborator for theScore. Juliet Jimenez is a Freshman at Purdue University pursuing a degree in User Experience Design. She is also minoring in Psychology and taking additional classes in Art and Design. Currently, she has a part-time job as the Graphics Editor at the Purdue Exponent.

Hayley

Hayley C. Farmer is currently a Sophomore in UX at Purdue University with a minor in Psychology and a certificate in Entrepreneurship. She stays extremely busy by being the Philanthropy chair in her sorority, a freelance nanny, a mentor in a club devoted to women in technology, and a weekly volunteer at Murdock Elementary School where she reads to second graders. In her free time she enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle by hitting the gym everyday and playing on recreational soccer teams. After obtaining her degree in UX, she wants to keep her passion alive and own her own business. Essentially she’d like to become a social entrepreneur where she will focus on creating products and services that solve social needs and problems. Hayley would love to create a new technology that focuses on helping people deal with anxiety, stress, and depression. While she has big dreams and would like to be wildly successful, her goal is to make the world a better place, not to take market share. Hayley C. Liyang Qu is a second semester freshman at Purdue University. He is majored in UX design and is planning to take minors in Psychology and Computer Science to explore his career path.
He was born in Wuhan, China. He is the only child in his family. After finishing his middle school at China, His family moved to Fairfax, Virginia and he started his high school there. He showed his interest in graphic design during his first year of high school. As he continually explored the possibility throughout his high school career, He discovered that he enjoys the accomplishment that digital graphic design offered to him and decided to pursue a higher education in it while in college. He has four years extended experience with Photoshop and illustrator. In personal life, He is a devoted Christian and a heavy gamer. He hopes that modern game can place more focus in actual game play design, not money making design.

Rhea Manocha is an undergraduate at Purdue University studying UX Design with minors in Psychology, Management, and Computer Science. She has experience conducting user research for Cerner during a semester project and designing user interfaces for a cybersecurity startup.
