Experience Studio Project Owners

Matt Weaver, Ben Habegger (undergrads), and Lu Ding (TA) are the Project Owners in section 1. Alex McCausland, Shree Sathiyan (undergrads), and Anjali Bhati (TA) are the Project Owners in section 2. Nancy Rasche (Professor) will be a Project Owner in both sections and will administer the course from project retrieval to handoff. All Project Owners will work together to support their student teams and manage individual student growth.

Anjali, Project Owner, Grad TA

Anjali Bhati is a UX designer and researcher with a unique background of six years in Interior Design. As an Interior Designer she honed her design skills and focused on creating spaces that were not only user-centric but also improved their daily lives. This approach continues to be a driving force in her UX Design work. Simplifying digital experiences for users is something she is really skilled with. Her design approach is data-driven and user-first. Her interests lie in the intersection of technology and design justice. Lu, Project Owner, Grad TA

Lu is a PhD Candidate in Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University, specializing in data-driven rural revitalization and humanistic design within a user-centered framework. With expertise in landscape design, urban planning, and user experience, he integrates AI-driven analytics such as real-time object detection and facial emotion models to assess spatial quality. Lu’s work focuses on fostering community engagement and civic participation through participatory design, branding, and art interventions. He has extensive experience in recruitment, connecting academic institutions with international agencies, designing promotional materials, and facilitating collaborations through MOUs. As a facilitator, Lu has enriched interdisciplinary programs and continues to explore innovative ways to bridge design, technology, and community-building.

Matt, Project Owner, Undergrad

Matt Weaver is a Senior at Purdue University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in User Experience (UX) Design with a Minor in Psychology along with a Collaborative Leadership Certificate. Matt has a strong focus on building customer relations and uncovering empathetic insights in order to connect with them through product design, a passion that stems from his research & design work in the Open Lab at Newcastle University. Ben, Project Owner, Undergrad

Ben Habegger is a Senior at Purdue University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in UX Design, a minor in Anthropology, and a certificate in Collaborative Leadership. Having great interest in technology, design, and how people interact with products and interfaces across the world, User Experience Design combines Ben’s passions of design, usability, and helping others. Most recently, Ben completed an internship as a Product Design Intern at Kroger and has also worked as an Undergraduate Researcher in collaboration with Beck’s Hybrids. His goal is to specialize in Interaction Design with interests in strategy, project management, and leadership. As Ben looks to graduate in the Fall of 2024, he hopes to combine these skills to become well rounded in his career as a UX Designer.

Alex McCausland is currently a senior at Purdue University from the Metro Detroit area. She is pursuing a degree in User Experience Design and minors in Psychology and Communication. She is interested in product design, and enjoys using research to inform design decisions. Her specialty lies in visual design, creating well-thought out and appealing designs. Alex aspires to be a product designer who creates accessible designs that have a positive impact on users. Currently, she is the Marketing lead for Armenian Club, and mentors two underclassman students as a part of UX Design Club. Shree, Project Owner, Undergrad

Shree Sathiyan is a senior at Purdue University pursing a major in User Experience Design, a minor in Psychology, and certificates in Collaborative Leadership and Applications of Data Science. Her passion for building community centered and regenerative spaces is fueled by her interest in technology and psychology. Recently, she is working with a nonprofit focused on ecological education and regenerative agriculture. She has also volunteered for multiple nonprofits, conducting website audits and providing recommendations for content and communication strategies. As the Professional Development Chair of Purdue’s UX Design Club, she has organized guest speakers and workshops with industry conenctions. Clever, Inc

For this project we are working Clever’s design team to develop new multifactor authentication methods for public school students and teacher from K-12 to use. We are taking into account ease of use, security, and financial constraints as we work throughout the semester to develop our solutions.

Evan

Evan Brehm is a junior at Purdue University pursuing a degree in User Experience (UX) Design, a minor in psychology, and a certificate in Entrepreneurship. He has contributed greatly within multiple startups including a 6 month internship with an up and coming educational technology platform. He is primarily interested in information architecture and product management because they employ his love of technology and artistic design while solving user-centered problems. In order to keep a more hands-on approach to projects, his future plans are to specialize in visual design and information architecture. Dean

Dean Carroll is a Product Designer at Walter Picks, where he is instrumental in developing a cutting-edge AI-driven platform that surfaces insights for fantasy sports and sports betting. He is studying user experience design at Purdue University and is pursuing a minor in psychology to better understand the people he designs for. Dean has extensive experience in UI design, collaborating with developers to implement those designs, and leading user testing initiatives. Caitlin

Caitlyn Hagen is a student at Purdue University pursuing a degree in User Experience Design with a minor in Psychology. She chose user experience design because it is an innovative but challenging and collaborative field. She loves how UX design offers a good balance between creativity and applied technology. She has more of the design experience in Figma, Jira, as well as working in a corporate environment from her past experience in an internship at Thriftbooks. Additionally she has experience in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Java. She hopes to specialize in the design aspect and focus more in the technical aspect and help make technology easier to use whether that is in the technology field or in product design in the fashion industry. Esha

Esha Jhaveri is a sophomore at Purdue University, majoring in UX Design with a minor in Psychology. Her major appealed to her because it combines her interests in tech innovation, visual design, and psychology. Driven by her creative spirit and a strong desire to connect with people, she is inspired to create user experiences that are engaging and visually pleasing. Molly Koers is a sophomore at Purdue University studying User Experience Design with a minor in Psychology. Max Kowalski is a senior at Purdue University studying User Experience Design with a minor in Psychology and a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Vaishnavi

Vaishnavi Kuppa is currently in her third year of UX Design at Purdue University, also pursuing minors in Anthropology, Communications, and Professional Writing. Her lifelong interests lie in the humanities and studying how people engage with technologies. Vaishnavi is a firm believer in approaching user research from an anthropological perspective. AJ

AJ McGinley is a senior at Purdue University studying UX design, she is passionate about physical prototyping and interaction design. Her greatest piece of work she has been apart of was developing and prototyping a new 4D movie theater seat to make those movie experiences more enjoyable. She is interested in working within consulting, automotive, or toy design industries as she has always wanted a fast and ever changing environment to work within. AJ has always been passionate about technology and development and throughout high school she was apart of the computer science and engineering society where she developed her first app.
Outside of academics she can be found playing ultimate frisbee with her Purdue Club team, reading a good mystery novel by Agatha Christie, or when she can, go to the beach, but that is usually when she is home in Florida for spring break.

Jackson

Jackson Stone is a junior at Purdue University studying user experience design with minors in anthropology & communication. During high school, Jackson was in marching band, Boy Scouts, and practiced Tae Kwon Do where he earned his Eagle Scout and black belt respectively. In his robotics classes during grade school, he enjoyed the design process that his teams followed for projects and competition. The process of research, prototype, test, repeat brought him over to UX where he loves to use this process with his colleagues. His current career interests are UX research and service design because of the opportunities to get out into the field and interact with people in the world. His top priority is to produce meaningful designs backed by strong research.
In his free time Jackson loves being outside. He enjoys hammocking, swimming, mountain biking, hiking, and exploring. When he’s inside you can find him doodling, working on projects, reading, learning about beekeeping, or playing games.

Microsoft XSD

Microsoft tasked our team with identifying ways to incorporate AI into the financial services industry (FSI). Our team’s goal is to produce an AI prototype for FSI to identify and address key challenges faced by financial services customers, leveraging current AI trends while considering potential risks and concerns.

Damaris

Damaris Adeniji is a senior at Purdue University majoring in UX Design, with experience as a Design Research. Her background in qualitative and quantitative research, psychology, and entrepreneurship informs her mindful yet data-driven approach. Max Berent-Spillson is currently pursuing a degree in UX design from Purdue University as well as a minor in psychology. Max found his talent for UX design when he was working on a card game in highschool, and has since pivoted his career path to study UX design and hopefully become a product manager. Mikaela Thompson is a junior at Purdue University pursuing a degree in User Experience Design with minors in Psychology, Computer and Information Technology, and a certificate in Organizational Leadership. Key Lime Interactive

For this project, our team will be working for Key Lime Interactive (a primarily research focused company) where we will be conducting extensive user research into the realm of gen Z/millennials financial understanding and needs. This research will be focused on understanding the state of which most gen Z/millennials are in, and the relationship these generations have with finances. We will then create a solution for this issue to allow these generations to practice healthy financial planning and financial habits.

Logan

Logan Carter is currently a junior at Purdue University pursuing a major in UX Design, a minor in Communication, and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Looking to specialize in User Research and Product Design, Logan is still exploring industries for inspiration but hopes to work in entertainment or e-commerce. Jack Gerber is a senior majoring user experience design at Purdue University in West Lafayette. Egan

Egan Homeric is a UX design and computer science student at the Polytechnic Institute at Purdue University, aspiring to advance his career in the tech industry. Born and raised in Chicago to first-generation Asian American immigrant parents, Egan was deeply influenced by his parents, who were both artists. This upbringing instilled in him a profound appreciation for art and design. During his teenage years, Egan developed a strong affinity for the sci-fi genre, imagining a future where humans and technology coexist harmoniously. This vision fueled his interest in how people interact with technology, particularly how the design and aesthetics of a product can significantly impact the user experience. Driven by this passion, he has completed a variety of projects, ranging from concept mobile apps to functional websites. Some of his notable projects was a design of a concept app that uses the front camera to display information about Chicago landmarks by simply pointing at them. In another project, he redesigned Brightspace’s coursework mobile app, gathering data from user interviews with DePaul students and staff to inform his design decisions. Additionally, Egan worked on a project with start up DEFI Design to develop a kitchen scale that adaptively assisted low-vision and non-sighted users during meal preparation and cooking. The project was sponsored by an organization interested in understanding how visually impaired individuals might interact with Voice User Interfaces (VUIs). They also worked on prototyping a dynamic VUI script designed to assist users throughout the cooking process. Natalie Newton is a Sophomore at Purdue University majoring in User Experience Design and minoring in Psychology while pursuing a certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Linh

Linh Pham is a rising junior at Purdue University, majoring in UX Design and minoring in Psychology & Anthropology. From a freelance graphic designer during high school, she soon found her interest in how visual interfaces are designed, and also the complex interaction behind that. Coming to Purdue, Linh took part in many projects both inside and outside of class and has been an active undergraduate researcher at Dr. Parsons’s Design, Visual & Cognition lab, where she works on redesigning complex science gateways. As a proactive and adaptive person, Linh always seeks different chances to advance her skill set and knowledge. Currently, her interests in the field lie within emerging technologies, especially how generative AI might be helpful for education and the different ways that students, especially underrepresented ones, might leverage them to succeed. Besides that, Linh has always been an enthusiastic problem solver who would love to see how future technologies can solve long-standing issues. Uline

The Uline Custom Product Design Process is an in-house solution and allows the customers to see their designs on specific products. Customers can add text and upload artwork. Items are configured with set attributes in a tool within Uline and then the available attributes are displayed based on the chosen selections. The process can be time consuming and cumbersome to customers who have not used it before. Our goal is to find an easier and more seamless process for customers to create these custom printed products.

Tejasvi

Tejasvi Bhagwatkar is a senior at Purdue University, double majoring in Web Programming & Design and UX Design with a minor in Design and Innovation alongside a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Tejasvi is also part of the Purdue UX design club as a treasurer and takes part as a mentor for the polytechnic women in Tech mentorship program. Tanvi

Tanvi is a highly motivated UX Design student at Purdue University with a strong academic record and a passion for creating user-centric experiences. Sahana

Sahana Bala is a student majoring in both UX Design and Psychology, while taking additional courses in Entrepreneurship to gain a complete understanding from users’ perspective. Jean Chou is a second-year Master’s student in Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University, specializing in integrating emerging technologies and data analytics into Product Design. Living Proof

The goal of this project is to analyze new users’ journeys and decision-making processes on Living Proof’s website to identify areas for improvement in user engagement, product discovery, and purchasing decisions. Through user research and testing, the project will identify key pain points and motivations, providing design recommendations to enhance brand perception and facilitate purchase decisions, with the goal of increasing cart value on Living Proof’s e-commerce website.

Hannah

Hannah Ahn is a junior at Purdue University, majoring in UX Design and minoring in psychology. Hannah is also pursuing a certificate of collaborative leadership. In her younger years, she spent most of her time volunteering for different organizations  and working as a teacher’s assistant. CorpusKey is a web-based AI tool that helps instructors quickly and efficiently grade language-based content without worrying about subjectivity and generate course materials like readings, tests, and presentations using natural language processing (NLP) capabilities. The main focus of the project will be developing user-flows, through visual and interactive design, for an improved experience for instructors to utilize a grading system and image repository.

    DonateEquity is a company that enables investors and entrepreneurs to give equity from their organizations to 501c3 nonprofits, allowing them to gain tax benefits prior to a sale. By donating a non-voting interest in the business before the sale, individuals can receive significant tax deductions, minimize or eliminate capital gains taxes on the donated shares, and transform those tax savings into greater contributions to their chosen charities. Our team will be exploring strategies to optimize the onboarding process while considering the various needs of our users and incorporating diverse learning methods.     Kellen McClain is a student currently enrolled in Purdue University who’s attending their second year and third semester in the UX Design course.       In this project our primary focus is to streamline and enhance the efficiency of report writing and communication for CASA volunteers, who often spend considerable time documenting and reporting child case details to the judge. We aim to conduct thorough research to understand the process a CASA volunteer follows when taking on a case. Our goal is to alleviate the workload and mental strain associated with report writing and other administrative tasks. By improving the organization of case-related information, such as stakeholder contact details, meeting records, and case documents, we hope to make the reporting process significantly more manageable for CASA volunteers so they can focus on supporting their assigned child.

      Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)

      Purdue OWL is an internationally recognized online writing resource that also has on-campus services, though they are much less heavily utilized. The program is looking for a way to introduce a more multi-modal approach to its text-heavy format to improve interactivity within its online options and promote more on-campus use. This project will involve heavy research into the main users of the platform, along with the constraints under which OWL works. We will maintain extensive communication with stakeholders, including: OWL workers, student staff, and Purdue faculty and students. This project will also involve some video production and editing.
