1. New Business

-       Staff Meeting Safety Presentation

o   On 1/15/16, a safety message which included emergency preparedness was giving to the ENE staff

o   Questions were raised about how the “all clear” is communicated during an emergency.

  • Phil Qualio, ARMS building deputy, stated that the Building Deputy and/or Facilities Manager is at the ARMS Fire Command Center with the emergency personnel.  When they are given the all clear, they walk to the west entry and wave everyone in.

-       Graduate Students

o   Since graduate students do not attend staff or faculty meetings, an alternate method of communicating safety information to them needs to be determined.

-       Visitor Safety Protocol

o   The possibility of adding safety instructions to the beginning of meetings, especially when visitors are present, was discussed.  This would provide all attendees with basic safety instructions (where to go in an emergency) and further encourage all to take a safety mindset.

-       Purdue police walk through

Jill Folkerts to talk with Dr. Radcliffe the possibility of a walk through WANG with the Purdue police to discuss the safest reaction to an active shooter situation

2. Review of College of Engineering Safety Committee Meeting Minutes

-       The Lessons Learned Online reporting was discussed.

3. Review of Open Safety Items List

-       Update of WANG BEP

o   Currently, no evacuation maps are located on the third floor of WANG.  Jill Folkerts to meet with Building Deputy to discuss better, clearer signs

o   Need to create a list of needed sign locations in WANG

-       Jill Folkerts to post Safety Committee minutes on ENE website.
