Safety Committee Meeting Minutes

Purpose: Bi-weekly meeting of the ENE safety committee

1. New Business

  • Discussed Wang Hall safety items
    • Need to develop ENE sections for the WANG BEP, will explore and consider options
    • Need to scout out locations for HazCom/RTK materials (kitchenette is a good location)
    • Will need to conduct move-in audits once the transition is complete
    • Discussed regular audits during initial setup to ensure no safety issues are present
  • Safety impact for AFL extended hours
    • Extended hours begin on 2/3/15
    • AFL graduate assistants have been trained on supervision and procedures for extended hours
    • Will monitor and revise policies as required
  • Results of Purdue Alert system test on 1/29/15
    • Conducted a test of the i2i/AFL radios; everything went well
    • FYE instructors addressed emergency response procedures with their classes

2. Review of College of Engineering Safety Committee Meeting Minutes

  • No meeting held in January

3. Review of Open Safety Items List

  • Item #37: Closed. Train the trainer sessions were held during the week of January 19th. All AFL TAs attended a session. Audits are planned, and impromptu training will be conducted through the semester.

4. Review of Open Near Miss Items

  • Item #36: Updated. Procedures will be put in place in the AFL to require cut proof gloves when working in the Boneyard and operating the horizontal band saw and metal vertical band saw.
