Muhsin Menekse and Selcen Guzey with colleagues Lynn Bryan (College of Education) and Kari Clase (Purdue Polytechnic, BIRS) were recently awarded an NSF DRK-12 Grant, "Integration of Engineering Design and Life Science: Investigating the Influence of an Intervention on Student Interest and Motivation in STEM Fields."

Panelists will disseminate initial findings from focus group interviews seeking to understand the mechanisms that support high levels of women’s engineering participation. While the conversation will feature focus group data from female undergraduate engineering students, faculty, and practicing engineers in Jordan, Tunisia, and Malaysia, panelists will also discuss aspects of international collaboration and data collection, including plans for study in Saudi Arabia and the United States. The panelists will draw from their different disciplinary backgrounds—sociology, engineering, engineering education—to make observations and solicit discussion.

Validity in educational assessment is a frequently used but misunderstood term. The fundamental meaning of validity is an evaluation of evidence to determine appropriate interpretation and use of an assessment’s findings. Whether or not an assessment’s results can be trusted as valid indicators for a given use case can be difficult to ascertain for those without technical training in assessment.

This Sunday, Dr. Phil Wankat will officially retire from the Purdue University College of Engineering. Together with Chemical Engineering, family, and friends, we celebrated last week his 47-year career.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Three Purdue University faculty members in the College of Engineering won 2017 Faculty Early Career Development awards from the National Science Foundation, one of the most prestigious NSF honors for outstanding young researchers.

Last week, The Boeing Company announced a grant awarded to Drs. Krishna Madhavan and Kerrie Douglas for the project entitled, “Contrasting user behaviors in online learning environments.”

Lucero "Lu" Campos is the business manager for the School of Engineering Education, the Women in Engineering Program, and the Minority Engineering Program. Born and raised across the Wabash River in Lafayette, Indiana, Lu earned a communications degree from Purdue University and her MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.

When asked who inspires her as we reflect on Women's History Month, Allison replied, "I would have to say my mom."
