Purdue FYE student heads to the West Coast to roll out tech startup

FYE student Tolen Schreid is taking a gap year to move his tech company forward, thanks to a hefty influx of venture capital by tech accelerator investors. Schreid is one of the youngest entrepreneurs to receive a financial nod from Y Combinator for Caseflood.ai, an AI, open model platform centered around the legal profession.

ENE graduate student one of four chosen for TRACER grant

ENE PhD student Adrian Nat Gentry will be at University College London this winter, researching how professional skills are currently being integrated into UCL's foundation engineering curriculum. His efforts are supported by a Purdue College of Engineering TRAvel for CollaborativE Research (TRACER) grant designated for grad students on a promising trajectory toward a career as a faculty member at a top university.

Purdue 2024 Engineering Gift Guide focuses on microelectronics

Tamara Moore and the INSPIRE Research Institute for Pre-College Engineering at Purdue ENE released the 11th consecutive Engineering Gift Guide, showcasing 40 gifts to help children and teens better understand and develop an interest in microelectronics. The top gift was a children’s picture book called SOIC & SOT: The Microchips.

Coding continues to trend in Purdue's 2023 Engineering Gift Guide

Coding has been a big trend in educational toys for several years, and Purdue's 10th consecutive Engineering Gift Guide (released 11/21/2023) didn’t disappoint with two robots, a rover, a microelectronics kit, a book, and a plush doll included in the guide. The annual guide is produced by the nonprofit INSPIRE Research Institute for Pre-College Engineering, which is a research center within the Purdue School of Engineering Education dedicated to integrating engineering into pre-college classrooms, and promoting participation of students from groups underrepresented in engineering.

Dr. Phil Wankat Receives 2022 ASEE Lifetime Achievement Award in Engineering Education

In preparation for this award, Dr. Bill Oakes, 150th Anniversary Professor, Director of the EPICS Program, and Professor of Engineering Education, shared with us his rationale statement written for Phil's nomination. Pawley Receives 2020 Sterling Olmsted Award

Dr. Alice Pawley, Associate Professor of Engineering Education, was honored last week at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference with the 2020 Sterling Olmsted Award. This is the highest award given by the ASEE Liberal Education/Engineering & Society Division (LEES). The award "honors those who have made distinguished contributions to the development and teaching of liberal arts in engineering education."
