Our paper titled "Full-wave methodology to compute the spontaneous emission rate of a transmon qubit" was accepted for publication in the IEEE Journal on Multiscale and Multiphysics Computational Techniques.

This paper uses our recently developed full-wave description of circuit quantum electrodynamics systems to create an approach to compute the spontaneous emission rate of transmon qubits using widely-available full-wave simulation tools. The spontaneous emission rate is an important figure of merit for any quantum bit, as it can play a significant role in the control and decoherence of the qubit. Using full-wave simulation tools to characterize this figure of merit provides a simple analysis framework that can also achieve the highest accuracy possible for arbitrary physical layouts. We expect this to be an important capability as these quantum systems continue to be scaled up in size where more modern physical layouts become more difficult to accurately describe with popular, but simple, circuit models.
