Our paper titled "An introduction to the transmon qubit for electromagnetic engineers" was accepted for publication in the IEEE Antennas & Propagation Magazine.

The transmon qubit is one of the most popular superconducting qubits used to date, and so it is important for classically-trained electromagnetic engineers to understand this piece of technology so they can contribute to the exciting field of circuit quantum electrodynamics. This article discusses the basic details of transmon qubits "from the ground up" using as little jargon and quantum mechanical principles as possible, and highlights in brief detail some of the main ways that microwave fields can be used to control and read out the state of the qubit, which is a central component of quantum information processing.
