All the while I was quite happy
Jessica Eisma, Ph.D. - 2023 CEGSAC Emerging Leader

Jessica Eisma never expected to be a tenure-track professor at an R1 university. She did not even know what “R1” meant. But after arriving at Purdue in 2013 as a thesis-option master’s student with a focus in hydraulic and hydrologic engineering, Jessica just kept saying “yes” to oft-ignored opportunities. This led to research stints in Tanzania and in the Netherlands during her PhD and gave her the research and life experience necessary to succeed in landing her dream job. Jessica Eisma is now in her third year as an assistant professor of water resources engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she leads NOAA, NSF, and Texas Sea Grant-funded research projects on green stormwater infrastructure for socially vulnerable urban communities and develops data skills-focused training materials for undergraduate researchers. A mother of two littles, Jessica likes to spend her free time playing board games, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and cheering on her favorite football team. Up the Toffees!

We hope to see you all there.
