Fall 2018 Philanthropy Events

Here are the upcoming philanthropy events that GSA will be hosting!  We’ve got lots of good things coming up this semester and we need your  help! More details will follow about each of them.

Tuesday October 30th, 3-4 pm: Hanna Community Center (in
Lafayette); helping kids with homework (2000 Elmwood Avenue,
Lafayette, about a ten minute drive from campus)

This is a great opportunity to help inspire kids to want to keep
learning! It sounds like they would love all the help they can get, so
we may be doing more with them in the future. Look for more details .

Saturday November 10th, 9-2pm: Purdue Winterization (meet at
Purdue); prepping yards in the community for winter. See details here: https://www.purduewinterization.org/ We will be helping local residents clean up their yards to prepare for the winter. Registration for our group is now open! If you want to join, click “Volunteer Registration” and select ABE GSA when asked about your group. We’ll be doing the first wave, so come at 8 am if you want breakfast (I think you can come a little later if you don’t care) and they do serve lunch. Also, we meet on-campus and go from there so don’t worry about rides.

November 1-December 8: Toy drive! Give a child a toy for
Christmas! Collection spots will be set up around departmental areas.

Here’s a survey!

It seriously can be done in one minute or less, and it would really
help us know how we can help you help other people. Please take it!

Help Raise Money for ABE GSA!

Please consider attending the Midwest Graduate School Summit, a one day graduate school exposition held October 27 in Stewart Center.

For students attending the FREE Graduate School Fair only, swipe your Purdue ID in the hallway outside of STEW 302 to receive a name tag with time stamped before entering the fair. When exiting the fair, go to the Purdue student club checkout table (STEW 310) and provide your Purdue ID (another Purdue ID swipe needed) and the name of your club.  Students need to stay at least 30 minutes.

Each Purdue club sending at least 10 students will receive a $125 donation. The Purdue club sending the most students to the Midwest Summit will receive a prize of $250. This is in addition to the $125.

Nine Irish Social

This Friday (8/31), we will be having our social gathering at Nine Irish Brothers (Wabash Landing) at 7:00 pm- roughly 9:00, or however long we can stay. This is a great chance to catch up with your fellow ABE students after the summer as well as for new and returning students to get to know each other. ABE GSA will be ordering appetizers for the group, but anything else you may want to order is at personal cost. We will have the back patio reserved for the event.
Look forward to seeing you there!!!
