Soup Kitchen Philanthropy

Our philanthropy chairs, Julia & Josept, have really done a great job of organizing opportunities to give back to the Greater Lafayette community this fall. From reverse trick-or-treating at local hospitals and clean-up of West Lafayette through Winterization, we have ended the semester with two days of volunteering at the Care & Share soup kitchen of Lafayette. Here are some photos!

Fall Philanthropy

ABE has been busy giving back to the community lately! Several graduate students participated in the annual “Winterization” put on by Purdue students. From the website: “Winterization is a community service project in which students from Purdue University assist in preparing the yards and homes of the elderly and disabled in Tippecanoe County for winter.”

Here are some photos!

Additionally, several ABE grads donned costumes and went “Reverse Trick-or-Treating” to pass out candy and play games with children at the local hospitals, IU & St. Elizabeth. Great work by our Philanthropy Chairs Julia & Josept in organizing these opportunities for us to give back to the community!

An Active October for ABE

October has been a very busy month for ABE Students! With intramural sports, our reverse trick-or-treating philanthropy event, and the usual birthday bashes and professional development seminars, we have had a great month!

Philanthropy: Restaurant Hope

The 2014-2015 ABE-GSA Philanthropy Chair, Salah Issa, did a great job of helping ABE-GSA connect to the greater Lafayette community. In addition to ABE-GSA’s one-time Restaurant Hope volunteer experience, Salah has participated in Restaurant Hope several times and recently published a paper on it! Congratulations and good job, Salah! You can read about Restaurant Hope here: RH_paper

ABE-GSA is excited to have Julia Burchell & Josept Revuelta on board as our philanthropy chairs for 2015-2016!
