Chad Jafvert, Lyles Family Professor of Civil Engineering and Professor of Environmental and Ecological Engineering, has been named the 2022 recipient of the Excellence in Environmental Engineering and Science Education (E4S) Award by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers & Scientists.

Welcome to Spring 2022! Our last newsletter was released in March 2020, at the start of what many believed would be a brief crisis. Obviously, we have endured tremendous challenges during the years since that last communication. In this newsletter, we would like to highlight some of EEE's achievements, which are a reflection of the fortitude and commitment with which our faculty, students, and staff rose to meet those challenges.

A team including Purdue EEE graduate students were recently named Technology Bonus Prize Semifinalists for the Great Lakes Region in the EnergyTech University Prize.

2023 U.S. News and World Report has ranked Purdue EEE the 11th best graduate program in nation for environmental and ecological engineering. The Purdue University College of Engineering graduate program ranked 4th nationally.

EEE graduate students Caroline Jankowski and Kristofer Isaacson, and EEE alumna Dr. Christian Ley recently traveled to Colorado to help Andrew Whelton decontaminate water systems after the Marshall Fire.

Andrew Whelton, a Purdue University professor of civil engineering and environmental and ecological engineering, has been regularly showing up to wildfires with his students and dozens of coolers for the past four years.

Dr. Nina L. Robinson, Administrative Director of Purdue Environmental and Ecological Engineering, has received a Bravo Award for her extraordinary work over the past year.

Purdue EEE faculty member Brandon Boor was recently featured by Science for his research into indoor air pollution. He demonstrated that cleaning for several minutes generates as many airborne particles as traffic on a busy city street.

Andrew Whelton (Purdue EEE/Purdue Civil) and Caitlin Proctor (Purdue EEE/Purdue ABE) hosted a panel of three prominent science writers to discuss how journalists can act as conduits of scientific knowledge.

First-year engineering students working with Purdue EEE faculty member Inez Hua participated in an engineering design challenge centered on voting technology and improving United States voter participation.
