Purdue Team Attends CMI Annual Meeting

The Critical Materials Institute (CMI) celebrated five years of developing, accelerating, and commercializing novel technologies related to rare earth elements and other at risk materials in a meeting that was held on September 5-6, 2018 at Iowa State University.

CMI is an energy innovation hub funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. In attendance were a wide number of scientists and engineers from across the nation. Purdue attendees were Professors Sutherland, Handwerker, Zhao, Iyer, and graduate students Sidi Deng and Jesús R. Pérez-Cardona.

Sutherland, Deng, and Pérez-Cardona spoke on and advised fellow CMI researchers on Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA). TEA is being used to evaluate CMI technologies and provide guidance on strategies for improving economic competitiveness.
