Ehsan Vahidi, PhD candidate in EEE, was selected as recipient of the Purdue College of Engineering Travel Grant to attend Materials Research Society (MRS) 2017 Fall Meeting in Boston, MA.
In Ehsan’s investigation entitled “Life Cycle Analysis of Rare Earth Metals Production via Electro-Refining and Manufacturing of Rare Earth Magnets”, a comparative life cycle assessment (LCA) was carried out on different electro-refining facilities and LCA results were utilized to determine and quantify environmental hotspots of the electro-refining process and manufacturing of RE magnet.
