Abstract
Getting IRB approval for research is a daunting task. In this seminar, Dr. Tamara Moore will walk through the process of obtaining an approved IRB protocol and the ongoing process once it is approved. This counts for the field-specific responsible conduct of research (RCR) continuing education all researchers (graduate students, research staff, and faculty) must perform for research with Office of the Vice President for Research.

Biography
Dr. Tamara Moore is a professor of engineering education at Purdue University, where she is a University Faculty Scholar, the Executive Co-Director of the INSPIRE Institute for Pre-College Engineering, and the Director of the SCALE K-12 project. She is an internationally recognized scholar for her work on promoting engineering learning and thinking in K-16 engineering, mathematics, and science classrooms through the paradigm of engineering design-based STEM integration. Her research is guided by the following: Rich and engaging engineering learning experiences that foster deep content understanding in STEM disciplines and their intersections are needed for ALL students, for which she was awarded a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers and chosen for the Kavli Frontiers in Science award from the National Academies. In 2024, Dr. Moore was named a fellow for the American Society for Engineering Education. She previously served on the Purdue Internal Review Board as member and co-chair.
