Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) has emerged as a key area of research in educational technology and learning but we have limited understanding of how and why technologies support collaborative learning.

There have been repeated calls to improve engineering education, but are we doing everything we can to promote student success and improve student learning? Are we translating the ample research about effective teaching into actual classroom practice?
