Current Students

Joon 

Joon Hee Choi (PhD, Year 6) received his B.E. in Electronics Engineering and B.B.A. in Business Administration from Sogang University in 2004; and an M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University in 2014, where he is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prior to Purdue, he was an assistant manager at Samsung Electronics in South Korea from 2003 to 2012. His research interests include machine learning, image/video restoration, computer vision, and optimization algorithms for large-scale datasets.

Joon 

Xiran Wang (PhD, Year 5) received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University in 2013. He is currently a PhD student in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. His Research interests include image and video restoration, large-scale optimization and computational photography. He is a recipient of the Purdue University Ross Fellowship.

Omar 

Omar A. Elgendy (PhD, Year 3) received the B.Sc. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering (Distinction with honors) in 2010 and the M.Sc. degree in Engineering Mathematic in 2015, from Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. He is currently a PhD student and a graduate research assistant in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. His research interests include statistical signal processing, single-photon imaging, pattern classification, and optimization.

Xiangyu 

Xiangyu Qu (PhD, Year 1) received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 2017. He joined the SSIP Lab in 2016 as a team member for the Signal Processing Cup 2016, and continued doing research on computational photography during his senior year. He is a recipient of the Purdue University Ross Fellowship. His research interests include photon limited imaging, computer vision and machine learning.

Nick 

Nicholas Chimitt (PhD, Year 1) received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University Northwest in 2017. His research interests include image restoration, turbulence modeling and machine learning.

Zhiyuan 

Zhiyuan Mao (MS, Year 1) received the B.Eng. degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2017. In 2016 he was an exchange student at UT-Austin. His research interests include convex optimization, image restoration and computational imaging.

Yiheng 

Yiheng Chi (Undergrad, Year 4) is currently a senior in Computer Engineering at Purdue University. His current research interests include image and video restoration, imaging on mobile devices, denoising, computer vision, machine learning and artificial intelligence
