Dr. Nicholas Chimitt
received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from
Purdue University Northwest in 2017, and Ph.D. degree in Electrical
Engineering from Purdue University West Lafayette in 2023. His research
interests include image restoration, turbulence modeling and machine
learning.

Xijun Wang (Postdoc, 2024-now) received her Ph.D. degree
from Northwestern University in 2024. She received her B.S. degree from Yingcai Honors
College of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC).
Her research interests lie in machine learning and deep learning, particularly
focusing on computer vision tasks such as imagevideo generation, imagevideo
restoration, activity classification, and temporal action localization.
Currently, she is working on projects related to video restoration and
generative models, including GANs, diffusion models, and VAEs.

Guanzhe Hong (PhD, 2018 - now) received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering with minor in
mathematics from University of Toronto in 2017. He came to Purdue in 2018, and is currently developing deep learning theory for knowledge distillation.

Kent Gauen (PhD, 2019 - now) received a
B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Purdue University in 2018. His
research interests include unsupervised burst image denoising and
continuous-time probabilistic modeling.

Xingguang Zhang (PhD, 2021 - now) received the Bachelar's degree of Engineering
from Zhejiang University in 2018, and the MS degree in ECE from Purdue University in 2020. He joined the i2Lab in 2021, and is currently studying imaging through turbulence.

Harshana Weligampola (PhD, 2022 - now) received a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering in 2020 from the University
of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He is a recipient of the Purdue University Ross
Fellowship and currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer
Engineering. His research interests include low-light imaging, artificial
intelligence, and optimization.

Prateek Chennuri (PhD, 2022 - now) received his B.Tech and M.Tech Degrees at the
Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar in 2021.
He worked as a Research Associate at the Spectrum Lab, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore during 2021-22.
His research interests include computational imaging, image restoration, computer vision, and machine learning.

Hashan (Kavinga) Weerasooriya (PhD, 2022 - now) received his B.S. Degree in Electrical
Engineering from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2020. He is currently
a PhD student at Purdue West Lafayette. His research interest includes
single-photon LiDAR modeling and signal processing.

Yu Yuan (PhD, 2023 - now)
received the B.Eng. and M.S degrees in Aeronautical and Astronautical
Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, 2020 and 2023, respectively.
He is currently a PhD student at Purdue West Lafayette. His research
interests include computational photography and machine learning.

Weijian Zhang (PhD, 2023 - now) received the B.Eng. degree in Optoelectronic Information Science from
University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2021, and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA in 2023.
He was an exchange student at UC Berkeley in 2019. He is currently a Ph.D. student at Purdue West Lafayette.

Postdoc 1 Abdullah Al-Shabili (Postdoc, 2022-2023) received the P.hD. degree in
electrical engineering from New York University, NY, USA in 2022. He was a Postdoctoral Associate with Purdue University, West Lafayette,
IN, USA. He is a recipient of the New York University Ernst Weber Fellowship.
His research interests include modeling and solving inverse problems in
computational imaging using machine learning, optimization, and signal
processing.
Dr. Al-Shabili is now with Sony.

PhD 1 Joon Hee Choi (PhD, 2018) received his B.E. in Electronics Engineering and B.B.A. in Business
Administration from Sogang University in 2004, M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue
University in 2014, and Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University in 2018. Prior to attending Purdue,
he was an assistant manager at Samsung Electronics in South Korea from 2003 to 2012. His research interests include
machine learning, image/video restoration, computer vision, and optimization algorithms for large-scale datasets.
Dr. Choi is now an Principal Engineer / Manager at Samsung Semiconductor.

PhD 2 Omar A. Elgendy (PhD, 2019) received the B.Sc. degree in Electronics and
Communications Engineering (Distinction with honors) in 2010, the M.Sc.
degree in Engineering Mathematic in 2015, from Faculty of Engineering, Cairo
University, and the PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from
Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, in 2019. Dr. Elgendy is the recipient
of the Best Paper Award in the 2016 IEEE International Conference on Image
Processing (ICIP 2016) with Prof. Stanley Chan. He also receive the Bilsland
Dissertation Fellowship 2018 from Purdue University. His research interests
include statistical signal processing, single-photon imaging, pattern
classification, and optimization.
Dr. Elgendy is now an Image Processing Specialist at GigaJot Tech.

PhD 3 Xiran Wang (PhD, 2019) received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Rice University in
2013, and the PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue
University, West Lafayette, IN in 2019. His research interests include image
and video restoration, large-scale optimization and computational
photography. He is a recipient of the Purdue University Ross Fellowship.
Dr. Wang is now a Video Algorithm Engineer at Zoom.

PhD 4 Chengxi Li (PhD, 2021)
received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering Fudan University in 2016.
She received the PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue
University, West Lafayette, IN in 2021. Her research interests include computer vision, image processing, and autonomouns driving.
Dr. Li is now a Research Scientist at Meta.

PhD 5 Abhiram Gnanasambandam (PhD, 2022)
received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from India
Institute of Technolongy, Madras in 2017. He received the PhD degree in
Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University, West
Lafayette, IN in 2022. His research interests include applcation of statistical
signal processing to Quanta Image Sensors and other low light imaging
applications. Dr. Abhiram is a recipient of the Purdue College of Engineering Outstanding Graduate Researcher Award 2022.
Dr. Abhirma is now a Senior Engineer at Samsung Research America.

PhD 6 Xiangyu Qu (PhD, 2023)
received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in
2017. He joined the i2Lab in 2016 as a team member for the Signal
Processing Cup 2016, and continued doing research on computational
photography during his senior year. He is a recipient of the Purdue
University Ross Fellowship. His research interests include photon limited
imaging, computer vision and machine learning.
Dr. Qu is now a Senior Engineer at Apple.

PhD 7 Zhiyuan Mao (PhD, 2023) received the
B.Eng. degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Hong Kong
University of Science and Technology in 2017. In 2016 he was an exchange
student at UT-Austin. His research interests include convex optimization,
image restoration and computational imaging.
Dr. Mao is now a Senior Engineer at Samsung Research America.

Yash Sanghvi (PhD, 2019 - 2024)
received the B. Tech and M. Tech degrees in electrical engineering from India
Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2019. His research interests include
computational photography, low-light imaging, image deconvolution, and generative models.
Dr. Sanghvi is now an Senior Engineer at Qualcomm.

Yiheng Chi (PhD, 2018 - now) received the B.S. degree
in Computer Engineering from Purdue University in 2018, where he obtained his PhD degree in 2024.
His research interests include image and video restoration, imaging on mobile devices, denoising, computer vision,
machine learning and artificial intelligence.

MS 1 Kevin Valanarasu (MS, 2022) received the B.Tech degree in electrical engineering from India Institute of Technology, Madras in 2018. He was a software engineer at Texas Instrument from 2018-2021.
He joined Purdue in 2021, and worked on on quanta image sensors.
Mr. Valanarasu is now a DSP Firmware Engineer at Apple.
