On behalf of Professional Graduate Student Organization (PGSO), I would like to say thank you for electing us as new e-board members for the term 2018-2019. We are excited to announce the first event of this semester which takes place on Saturday, October 6th from 10 AM to 4 PM. Please see the detailed description of the event below.

The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) holds an annual national conference which culminates in the largest career fair for Asian Americans in the United States. This event is free and open to ALL engineering students and professional engineers, making it a great opportunity for all our members. This year, the career fair is scheduled to take place at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel on October 6th, Saturday between 10 am and 4 pm.

This event will be particularly beneficial to a majority of our members (international students) because the conference features a large number of employers that are potentially looking for international students or professionals. The list of the companies can be seen through this link https://conference.saseconnect.org/career-fair/explore-your-career-inspirations/sasenc2018-companies-at-career-fair. Historically, 20-25% of the past attendees were looking for either visa sponsorship or to work within a transnational organization in Asia. In the past, multiple companies have shown interest in sponsoring visas but due to yearly fluctuations in organizational needs, conference organizers cannot provide a definite number prior to the event. Companies will advertise their sponsorship abilities and the positions they will be hiring for on the day of the career fair. 

Attendees are recommended to register for the event online ahead of time, to allow companies to review resumes of candidates in advance. The registration link for the career fair is https://www.regexpo.com/sase/sase18/client/1.asp. In the past, companies have scheduled interviews on the same day of the career fair. Going as far sometimes to offer internships on spot right after the interview. 

This event will be an outstanding opportunity for our members to potentially secure future employment, to foster new business relationships with employers and we will also have a social activity with a group dinner afterwards.
