Principal Investigator
Yiheng Feng
Assistant Professor In Civil Engineering
Dr. Yiheng Feng is an assistant professor at Lyles School of Engineering, Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. from Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering at University of Arizona. He has served as PI and Co-PI in many research projects funded by NSF, USDOT, USDOE, multiple state DOTs and industrial companies. He has rich experiences in deploying and testing CV/CAV technologies in the field and has been involved in several large-scale national CAV deployment projects. He has published more than 50 research articles, which appeared in top journals, including Nature Communications, Transportation Research Part B/C, and IEEE Transactions on ITS/IV. He is a member of of traffic signal systems committee (ACP25) at Transportation Research Board, and co-chair of the simulation subcommittee. He is an editorial board member of Transportation Research Part C. He is the recipient of NSF CAREER award and best paper awards from INFORMS and NDSS, and the inaugural best dissertation award from the Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA).

Yumeng Bai
Graduate Research Assistant
Yumeng Bai is a direct Ph.D. student at the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University, specializing in Autonomy and Control. She is co-advised by Prof. Yiheng Feng and Prof. Dengfeng Sun. She earned her B.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute in 2022, where she also minored in Data Science. She was honored with the Shanghai Outstanding Graduate and Ivy Talent Scholarship from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Additionally, she was a visiting student at Cornell University's School of Operations Research and Information Engineering in 2022.
During her undergrad studies, she worked with Prof. Li Jin on cybersecurity in intelligent transportation systems utilizing game theory. Her work has led to high-quality publications at conferences like IEEE Conference on Decision and Control. Her current research interests include the cooperation between air traffic and ground traffic and cybersecurity in intelligent transportation systems.
Wangzhi Li
Graduate Teaching Assistant
Wangzhi (George) Li is a Ph.D. student, advised by Dr. Yiheng Feng, in the Connected, Automated, and Resilient Transportation (CART) Lab at Purdue University starting in 2022. Before that, he worked with Dr. Xuan (Sharon) Di and earned his Master of Science in Data Science from Columbia University in 2021. George’s research area includes but is not limited to reinforcement learning in traffic and Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) control, perception-based traffic state estimation, and cybersecurity for CAV and intelligent transportation systems. He has published high-quality papers in top journals and conferences, such as Transportation Research: Part C. George is a photographer (unprofessional) outside of his professional activities.
Yilin Wang
Graduate Research Assistant
Yilin Wang is a Ph.D. student in at Lyles School of Engineering, Purdue University. He joined CART Lab in Fall 2021. Yilin's perspective research interest is smart traffic control in Connected Automated Vehicle environment based on machine learning algorithms. He is also interested in implementing automation driving strategies. Yilin received his Bachelor from Collage of Civil Engineering from Tongji University, China in 2019 and MS from Carnegie Mellon University in 2020. His past research experiences involve geotechnical risk assessment and smart infrastructure resilience.
Jun Ying
Graduate Research Assistant
Jun Ying is a Ph.D. student in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University. She received her master’s degree from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Michigan in 2020. Her current research interests include spatiotemporal intersection management, connected and automated vehicle trajectory planning, and transportation system cybersecurity
Cong Zhang
Graduate Research Assistant
Cong Zhang is a Ph.D. student in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University. She received her master's degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Pennsylvania State University in 2021. Her current research interests include cooperative driving automation, intelligent vehicle testing and evaluation.
Tianheng Zhu
Graduate Research Assistant
Tianheng Zhu is a Graduate Research Assistant in the Connected, Automated, and Resilient Transportation (CART) Lab at Purdue University. He received the B.S. degree in Transportation Engineering from Tongji University, China in 2023. During his undergraduate, he was awarded the China National Scholarship and published several papers at top conferences like TRB Annual Meeting and IEEE ITSC. His current research interests include connected-and-automated-vehicle-based traffic control and safety.
