1. New Business - The first significant snowfall of the year highlighted the increased risk walking between WANG and Armstrong. Sidewalks maintained by the University are cleaned much more often than those that are not. The sidewalk in front of McDonalds, which is immediately adjacent to Northwestern, was very slick. Will recommend an alternate path during inclement weather. - Security in WANG was discussed – specifically at times when the front desk is not manned. - Increased visitors during the Head Candidate search is a good reminder for increased vigilance about door locks and securing valuables. 2. Review of College of Engineering Safety Committee Meeting Minutes - No meeting in December or January. 3. Review of Open Safety Items List - Opened discussions with the other schools in Armstrong, Kerry Ticen and Phil Qualio about combining resources to purchase an AED for WANG. The PUFD is a resource that can help us assess the best location in the building. Estimated one-time cost of $1800 and an annual cost of about $300. - REM audit action items: o MSDS’s to be converted to SDS’s § Step 1 – review current books for items no longer used and archive the MSDS’s (JH – AFL, JF – ARMS 1300 and WANG by 3/1/17) § Step 2 – Replace current MSDS’s with SDS’s (JH – AFL, JF – ARMS 1300 and WANG by 7/1/17) § (JH – AFL, JF – ARMS 1300 and WANG by 3/1/17) o Office of Future Engineers work continues. New office equipment is being installed. A follow up will be conducted when installation is complete. 4. Review of Near Miss Log - Coats are being collected to have available for students in the colder weather. 5. New Items - No new items. |
