Call for Applications | Graduate Degree Leadership Development (G°LD) Academy

The College of Engineering is continuing to gather applications for the 2024-25 Graduate Degree Leadership Development (G°LD) Academy that will begin this fall semester. We plan to accept up to a maximum of 25 students for this initial cohort who have an interest in developing strong leadership skills, who plan to pursue leadership positions in the future, and who are willing to be called upon to represent their fellow students across the College of Engineering.

Application Deadline: Wednesday, July 10, 2024

The G°LD Academy is a one-year commitment for participation in a semester-long course in the fall followed by collaborative events during selected times in the spring. The G°LD Academy is designed to engage selected engineering PhD students in a training experience to network with one another, engage with resources from across Purdue University’s campus, and develop leadership skills that will impact the rest of their graduate student experience. The students will identify their existing leadership strengths and develop new expertise throughout the semester. The course will include synchronous and asynchronous discussions of assigned readings.

Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in an Engineering PhD program in their second year (must have begun PhD studies Summer 2023, Fall 2023, or Spring 2024) OR Engineering PhD students beyond their second year who are currently in leadership positions with their graduate student association/organization are also eligible to apply.

Application Process: The selection process will be highly competitive, and all documents listed below must be compiled into a single PDF and submitted by the deadline to engrgrad@purdue.edu with the subject line, "G°LD Academy Application."
