Greetings from Environmental and Ecological Engineering (EEE). In May 2013, ten years ago, the first class of students graduated from our department through the BSEEE degree program.

John W. Sutherland, professor and the Fehsenfeld Family Head of Environmental and Ecological Engineering, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering for his research contributions to environmental sustainability in manufacturing and their implementation in industry.

Since the first 10 BSEEE students graduated in 2013, Purdue Environmental and Ecological Engineering has grown substantially, with 61 students receiving BSEEE degrees in 2023.

Purdue EEE students, faculty, staff, corporate partners, and members of the External Advisory Council (EAC) recently gathered for Recognition Night on April 27, 2023, an annual ceremony celebrating excellence in teaching, advising, research, and academic achievement.

New EEE External Advisory Council Member (EAC) Bruce Cooley (PE, BCEEE) holds an MS in Sustainable Water Engineering from UCLA (2021) and a BS in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Purdue University (2010).

Nafissa Mäiga spent most of her life in Mali, West Africa, where her interest in environmental issues and water resources first began. After moving to the U.S. in 2015, Nafissa finally found her home in Purdue Environmental and Ecological Engineering.

Purdue Environmental and Ecological Engineering was ranked the 12th graduate program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report!

Congratulations to our Spring 2023 BSEEE graduates and all EEE students who successfully completed MS and PhD degrees in 2022-2023!

Lindsey Payne, director of service learning and assistant professor of practice in EEE was one of two recipients of Purdue's inaugural Teaching Catalyst Award. She was also recently voted a College of Engineering Outstanding Faculty Mentor by EEE's graduate students.

Ella Brodt (BSEEE 2024) shares her experience studying abroad at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia during the Spring 2023 semester.

Fu Zhao, professor of Environmental and Ecological Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, recently received the Kos Ishii-Toshiba Award from ASME.

Team Carbonbusters from Purdue University was selected as the Great Lakes Regional Winner in the EnergyTech University Prize.

Reinhardt Schuhmann Jr. Professor of Materials Engineering and professor of Environmental and Ecological Engineering Carol Handwerker has been elected as a 2023 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences.

EEE's Shweta Singh and 46 of Purdue's rising young faculty members received the inaugural Early Career Award, acknowledging their success as recipients of awards from federal agencies that recognize outstanding early career researchers.
