Reklaitis Appointed Distinguished Professor

Purdue's Board of Trustees appointed Gintaras "Rex" Reklaitis the Edward W. Comings Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering.

On December 15, 2007, the Board of Trustees of Purdue University ratified the appointment of Gintaras "Rex" Reklaitis as the Edward W. Comings Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering. 

Rex has served continuously on the chemical engineering faculty since 1970, and during his tenure, he has distinguished himself.  First, he has authored or co-authored more than 150 archival journal publications and three books.  Rex has also edited four books. He has chaired or co-chaired 40 completed PhD students and currently has 7 co-advised PhD students in the pipeline. He has served as editor-in-chief of the journal Computers & Chemical Engineering for more than 20 years, has taken leadership roles in AIChE and AIChE's Computing and Systems Technology (CAST) Division, CACHE (Computer Aids for Chemical Engineering Education) Corporation, and the Council for Chemical Research (CCR). He also served as Assistant Dean of Engineering for Graduate Education and Research (1985-88) and as Head of the School of Chemical Engineering (1987-2003).  Currently, Rex is leading the NSF Engineering Research Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems, and, earlier in 2007, he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
