Graduate Program
Through the Graduate School at Purdue University, Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Engineering (SEE) offers M.S. (thesis and non-thesis) and Ph.D. degrees.
Applications and all supporting documentation must be received on or before December 15, 2023, for admission in the Fall 2024 semester. There are no admissions for the spring or summer semesters.

To Apply
- Submit an online application through the Graduate School.
- Upload copies of all transcripts to the online application. You do not need to mail official transcripts unless specifically requested to do so by Environmental and Ecological Engineering.
- Current master’s students wishing to move to a doctoral degree program in this same graduate program will not be required to submit a new application.

- Statement of Purpose - essay of approximately words stating clearly and succinctly the reason for seeking graduate study in Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University, the applicant’s career goals, and research interests. The applicant may include information about any unique circumstances, special abilities, awards, achievements, scholarly publications, or professional history that are relevant to the admission decision.

Master’s Degree Program Basic Requirements
- Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average: 3.0 or equivalent required for unconditional admission.
- Completion of a baccalaureate degree at a college or university of recognized standing.
Additional International Applicant Requirements:
TOEFL for Non-Native English Speakers: For unconditional admission consideration, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Minimum Paper-Based Test (PBT) Score Required: 575

Minimum Internet-Based Test (IBT) Overall Score Required: 90, with the following minimum section scores required:
- Reading: 19
- Listening: 14
- Speaking: 18
- Writing: 18
- IELTS (Academic Module): An alternative to the TOEFL, scores of 6.5 or higher will be accepted
- TWE for Non-Native English Speakers: Not required, but recommended.
Doctoral Degree Program Basic Requirements
- Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average: 3.0 or equivalent required.
- Master's Degree Completion: Must have completed a Master’s degree or equivalent coursework in an appropriate discipline.
