Vibrant Community Art Exhibition Celebrates Creativity and Imagination - Application Deadline September 5, 2025
University art displays have the transformative power to foster community, celebrate emerging innovation, and increase positive student mental health. The Purdue University College of Engineering launched the Vibrant Arts initiative to showcase the creativity and imagination of faculty, staff, and students within the College. Led by a committee of seven of the College’s dedicated leaders, this initiative aims to “show the world that Purdue University's College of Engineering is the Pinnacle of Excellence at Scale in both technical and creative endeavors.”
“What is exciting about this opportunity is that it celebrates our faculty, staff, and students in a way that goes beyond their day-to-day roles,” said Chelsea Cummings, College of Engineering Staff Specialist and Vibrant Arts Committee member.
“We hope the campus community sees this exhibit as an invitation to pause, connect, and appreciate the incredible creativity that exists within Engineering. Whether someone is submitting their art for display or simply enjoying the exhibit, our hope is that they feel a sense of belonging and pride in being part of a community that values expression as much as innovation. We’ve already begun receiving submissions, and we are thrilled by the multitude of perspectives and the sheer talent that has come forward. It’s a powerful reminder of how much artistry and imagination lives within our College.”
The College of Engineering welcomes all faculty, staff, and students to submit applications to participate in the Vibrant Community art exhibition by September 5, 2025 and brighten up Neil Armstrong Hall. The exhibition will be installed in Neil Armstrong Hall and on display for twelve months. All two-dimensional art forms and mediums will be considered for display as long as the subject matter is appropriate for all College of Engineering visitors and the artwork can be exhibited in a safe manner. Submitted work will be evaluated on Creativity & Expression, Presentation & Readiness, Respectfulness & Inclusivity, Contribution to Space, and Effort & Craftsmanship, according to the rubric shared by the committee.
