The award is presented by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists and the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors for significantly contributing to the profession in the area of educating practitioners. Nies, who has been at Purdue since 1993, was inducted into the Purdue Book of Great Teachers in 2013.  The award will be presented later this month at a conference in Washington, D.C.
