Complete a three-week internship with mentors at the TVS Motor Corporation in Bangalore, India. Each team will complete small projects about manufacturing, logistics, supplier management, market segmentation, process improvement, new product development and new market trends. Upon completion of the program, students will earn two credits as MGMT 59000.

The objective of this program is to expose students to best practices within India's manufacturing sector, including those of Deming award-winning TVS Motor Corp. This unique study abroad experience provides an opportunity for students to globalize their resume and create lasting memories. The trip is hosted by the Dauch Center for Management of Manufacturing Enterprises and the Global Supply Chain Management Initiative in conjunction with TVS Motors as the sponsor.

Venu Srinivasan (MSM’77), chairman and managing director of TVS Motor Company and president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), conceived of the idea in 2006 as a way to provide real life consulting level projects to students while immersing them in the local Indian culture. Providing the unique hands on experience for students was a way that allowed him to give back to Purdue, while also creating an opportunity for the TVS leadership team to experience managing other cultures, ideas and labor styles.

Advantages for participation:

-  Unique opportunity to experience operations from a truly global perspective.

-  Opportunity to perform in a cross functional team, analyze a specific problem and resolve it in a brief 3 week internship.

-  Take concepts learned in the classroom and apply them to real life business situations.
