Welcome to the Global Career Impact Study

Project Objective: Our project will explore the impact of global experiences during and after the undergraduate years on global career outcomes, such as career choices, global engineering competency development, and global job responsibilities.

Project Motivation: As the engineering workplace becomes more globalized, it is increasingly important that engineers develop the global skills necessary to succeed in this environment. Global Engineering Competency (GEC) describes the capabilities necessary for engineering work in a global context. Although we believe GEC to be important for engineering work, we have little evidence of whether our existing global engineering programs effectively prepare students for their professional careers. Understanding the experiences that lead to global career outcomes can help engineering educators and engineering employers support engineering students and employees in developing GEC.
