ASEE Conference Presentation 2026

GCIS Team will be presenting at ASEE 2026 in Charlotte NC: Self-Reported Impact of Undergraduate Global Experiences on Engineering Professionals’ Career Outcomes

The GCIS team will present new findings at the 2026 ASEE Annual Conference & Exposition in Charlotte, NC. The paper, "Self-reported impact of undergraduate global experiences on engineering professionals' career outcomes," authored by Lexy Arinze, Dr. Kirsten Davis, Adelyn Karst, and Joe Tort, examines how undergraduate study abroad, international internships, and research abroad experiences shape engineers' careers years after graduation. Drawing on qualitative survey responses from 426 engineering alumni across three U.S. universities, we find that global experiences contribute to lasting shifts in mindset, professional skill development, and tangible career outcomes, including job offers, promotions, and professional networks. This work is supported by the National Science Foundation (Grant #238607).
