Job Summary

Purdue University seeks to hire a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in the School of Mechanical Engineering to support ongoing research in novel materials for Advanced Semiconductor Packaging and curriculum development. This position supports research and development under the direction of Prof. Shubhra Bansal in the Schools of Mechanical Engineering. The position is available immediately.

 

The position will provide an opportunity for collaborative research with leading research groups in areas of microelectronics packaging and workforce development including those within the Scalable Asymmetric Lifecycle Engagement (SCALE) program (link). The researcher will be expected to conduct research in the areas of advanced semiconductor packaging, Assembly and Reliability testing. In addition, the researcher will mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate researchers in a team-based environment, assist in the development of new programs or grant projects, and/or participate in the broader research in the area of Heterogeneous Integration and Advanced Packaging (HI/AP). The researcher will be expected to develop curriculum and hands-on training opportunities in semiconductor packaging.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Applicants must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering or related discipline. Candidates must show evidence that all requirements for the PhD have been met prior to the start of the position.
  • Expertise and background in materials, testing and metrology for Heterogeneous Integration and Advanced Packaging, electronic or optoelectronics devices or a closely related area.
  • This position is available to U.S. citizens only per requirements of the funding agency.

 

Preferred:

  • Preferred candidates will have proven expertise in materials for advanced semiconductor packaging, IC assembly, electro-thermo-mechanical reliability, data analytics.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated skills and vision for semiconductor workforce development.

Disclaimer

Appointments will be initially for 12 months with the possibility of renewal annually for up to 3 years. Salary is commensurate with position and qualifications. This position is contingent on final budget approval.
