Cosmin Mihai Udroiu is a mechanical engineer and PhD candidate at Universidad Jaume I, Spain. His research focuses on ultra-low temperature cooling systems. The project, which began as an idea for the undergraduate thesis and was the second-best national undergraduate thesis, has continued until it became a doctoral thesis. The objective is to create a facility capable of reaching temperatures up to -80 ?C by improving current inefficient ultra-low temperature systems and replacing high GWP refrigerants such as R23 with low GWP refrigerants. In addition, he also has another open line of research focused on reaching 250 ?C through a compression cycle, avoiding the degradation of refrigerants at these very high temperatures.
