Stella Pantopoulou

Graduate Research Assistant
Nuclear Engineering
West Lafayette
Stella holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Patras in Greece (2018) and a MS in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University (2021). She is currently a PhD candidate in the School of Nuclear Engineering and a visiting student with Argonne National Laboratory. She is the recipient of the Purdue University Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship for 2024-25 and the American Nuclear Society Robert E. Uhrig Graduate Scholarship for 2022-2023. Her research focuses on the application of machine learning methods for sensor monitoring in advanced reactor thermal hydraulic systems, with a particular emphasis on transfer learning. Stella aims to develop forecasting models able to provide predictions for sensor readings within the limits of measurement uncertainty when limited data are available for a given domain. Additionally, she is investigating the effect of quantitative similarity between domains on the performance of data-driven models.
