ETS Lenora M. Green Scholarship – Apply by 4/3

Applications for the inaugural Lenora M. Green Scholarship are now open, and will be accepted through Monday, April 3rd

Named in honor of the late Lenora M. Green, the former Executive Director of the Center for Advocacy & Philanthropy at ETS and a fierce advocate for educational opportunities for underserved students, this annually awarded national scholarship was established to support the educational goals of an undergraduate student who shows outstanding commitment to civic engagement along with a spirit of advocacy for serving individuals who have been systematically excluded.  

Scholarship Award: $20,000

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

Any student who:

  • is enrolled full time as a freshman, sophomore or junior at a public or private four-year U.S. college or university during the 2022–2023 academic school year
  • has a current GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • demonstrates leadership abilities and commitment to community service
  • demonstrates financial need
  • is a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 

How To Apply

To apply for the scholarship, you must provide:

  • a copy of your 2023–2024 FAFSA® Student Aid Report
  • the official transcript for your most recently completed academic term; this should include your Fall 2022 grades and cumulative GPA
  • three recommendation letters (two should be from a college/university official and printed on official stationery)
  • two original essays, answering the following questions (maximum of 500 words per question):
  1. Describe a pressing social issue in society and provide suggestions on how individuals can work to improve these conditions.
  2. Tell us a bit about yourself, your background, why you should be awarded the Lenora M. Green Scholarship and how this scholarship will help you advance your educational goals.
