	School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Team Led by Dr. Vikas Tomar Uses New Research Platform to Reveal "Nanomechanical" Surface Traits A new research platform uses a laser to measure the "nanomechanical" properties of tiny structures undergoing stress and heating, an approach likely to yield insights to improve designs for microelectronics and batteries.
	School of AAE Young Alumni Back on Campus to Meet with Faculty and Students Purdue's School of Aeronautics and Astronautics hosted panel discussions on August 25 and 26 which brought together current undergraduate students and young alumni.
	School of AAE Ph.D. Student Christabelle Bosson Awarded Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering Ph.D. student Christabelle Bosson has been awarded the Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship for the 2014-15 academic year. The Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship, administered by Purdue's Graduate School, provides support to outstanding Ph.D. candidates in their final year of doctoral degree completion.
	Professor Michael Grant receives W.A. Gustafson Award for Outstanding Teaching The W. A. Gustafson Award is presented annually to an Outstanding Teacher in the Purdue University School of Aeronautics & Astronautics. The recipient is selected by the juniors and seniors of the student body for excellence in teaching and made possible by the interest and generosity of friends and alumni of the school.
	School of Aeronautics and Astronautics Ph.D. Student Matthew Hudspeth Wins Cloud Scholarship Award School of Aeronautics and Astronautics doctoral student Matthew Hudspeth was awarded the inaugural Gary L. Cloud Scholarship Award at the 2014 Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM) Annual Conference.
