Tell me about the organization—its purpose and some of the events/activities:

The purpose of Purdue AUVSI is to promote interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of unmanned vehicles. We are still a very new organization, but already have a team participating on design build projects for UAS

Why would you encourage other AAE students to get involved in this organization?

As students in Aeronautical and Astronautical engineering one of the many subsets of our field is that of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (aka UAVs, UAS, and Drones). We have a team competing in a design competition and strive to keep our members informed of events in this new and expanding industry.

Best Purdue event or organization that you participated in outside of AAE?

Last year I went to the Mortar Board Leadership Conference. It had great keynote speakers and very good breakout sessions.

Favorite place on campus:

I really enjoy the ‘Fibonacci spiral’ plaza and fountain in Discovery Park. It’s relatively removed from campus and a nice place to calm down when it’s warm out.

Favorite class you have taken thus far and why?

AAE 251: Introduction to Aerospace Design. It was the first time that I really got to dive in and design a basic aircraft system. It went over many of the basics which have since been explained more thoroughly.
