AAE Associate Professor Vikas Tomar named ASME Fellow

AAE Associate Professor Vikas Tomar has been named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The fellow grade is the highest elected level of membership in ASME.

AAE Associate Professor Vikas Tomar has been named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The fellow grade is the highest elected level of membership in ASME.

In order to be selected as an ASME Fellow, one must be an active member for more than 10 years and have at least 10 years of experience in the field. A prospective fellow must be nominated by a current fellow, receive three additional sponsor letters and submit a professional record to account for their accomplishments. Dr. Tomar was nominated by Dr. R. Byron Pipes, the John L. Bray Distinguished Professor of Engineering at Purdue. Dr. Pipes was named an ASME Fellow in 1991.

Of the more than 140,000 members of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, fewer than 4,000 have attained the rank of fellow.
