AAE Assistant Professor Michael Sangid has had an article published in the March 2016 issue of the magazine “Aerospace America,” the monthly magazine of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Co-authored with John Matlik of Rolls-Royce, “A better way to engineer aerospace components” looks at integrated computational materials engineering, or ICME. The article examines the benefits of the modeling and simulation approach and explores why the aerospace industry has been slow to embrace it.

Dr. Sangid started as an Assistant Professor in Purdue’s School of Aeronautics and Astronautics in the fall of 2011. Dr. Matlik is the chief of life cycle engineering and the lead for the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Program at Rolls-Royce. He received his Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University.
